Kutmaster Beat is the alter ego of Marcus S. Garcia aka Bong Garcia. KB
started mixing vinyl way back in 1985. Together with his brother and a
couple of friends, he established First Release Audio & Lighting
Systems in September of 1986. With KB manning the turntables, First
Release won first place in a local mixing contest held at the Makati
Sports Club, Makati City, Philippines in February of 1987.
During the end of the 1980's, First Release branched out into recording.
Using a TASCAM 244 4-track recorder, KB made remixes and megamixes of
some of his favorite songs. In the early 1990's, together with DJ MOD
(1991 DMC Philippines Champion and 1991 Technics World DJ Finalist), he
recorded some demo songs of Filipino rap artist Francis M.
In 1996, KB retired from live mixing in order to pursue other interests.
With the advent of computer-based digital direct-to-disk multitrack
recorders, KB revived his passion for mixing in 1999. He uses his
computer as a multitrack recorder to digitally record and produce his
remixes and demos for other artists. To date, he has produced demo songs
for Type AB, a rap duo from the Philippines, and Luv4DaArt, a rap r&b
group also from the Philippines.
In 2003, KB again started mixing live for clubs and bars in the Philippines.
He is currently a resident DJ of
Big Ben Collective
and he plays various genres of house music -- from soulful house to deep
house and anything in between.
